What is palindrome recording?

Palindrome Recording isn’t a place I work from; it’s the mindset and approach I take to make sure musicians get the attention and experience they deserve from a recording studio.

The studio is based around a MOTU 8m interface, a Ramsa WR-S4412 mixing board, and a function-over-form ethos.

my approach and philosophy

I started recording and mixing with a cracked copy of FL Studio back in high school. Since then, I’ve ran/assisted on well over 200 studio and live sound gigs and played countless live performances.

I’ve been lucky enough to have experienced the recording and live sound process from the engineer’s and the player’s perspective. Because of this, I have experienced the interactions and creativity of musicians, learned to recognize their visions, and developed the ability to act on it quickly, understanding the significance of each step in the process.

I aim to run my studio as efficiently as possible. If a piece of gear doesn’t get utilized often, I sell it to fund something else. If something doesn’t get me great results consistently, I sell it to fund something else. I try to do as many repairs and modifications as I can myself. You will not find many “hyped” pieces in my collection. No $10,000 microphones or “mojo-filled” preamps. I don’t pay for a separate studio space; I operate out of my home or drive to my clients. This has allowed me to accumulate equipment that punches well above its price point, continue charging affordable rates, and create environments where musicians are at ease and comfortable.
